ISO 9000-3

In respect of standardization, the area hardest to manage is software development and maintenance. It is so because the process of software development and maintenance is significantly different from similar processes of most industrial products. As it is a fast changing field of technology, it is necessary to provide complementary guidelines for all quality systems in which software products are involved.
Given the nature of software development, certain activities are only connected to individual stages of development, while others can be applied in the whole process. The structure of the regulations of the ISO 9000-3 standard reflects the differences mentioned. This standard is  not compliant with the structure of ISO 9001, so it is provided with cross references helping reference to ISO 9001.
